Geography

Newburg Borough is located at 40°59'N 78°37'W (40.983, -78.619). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all of it land.

History

Newburg Borough was founded in 1876, and was named after the nearby town of Newburg, which had been established in 1845. The borough was incorporated in 1877, and was the first borough in Clearfield County.

The first settlers in the area were mostly of German and Irish descent. The first industry in the area was a sawmill, which was built in 1845. The sawmill was followed by a gristmill, a tannery, and a distillery.

Economy

The economy of Newburg Borough is largely based on agriculture and tourism. The borough is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant.
