History
The area that is now New Stanton Borough was first settled in the late 1700s by German and Scotch-Irish immigrants. The town was originally known as “Stanton” and was incorporated as a borough in 1872. The name was changed to “New Stanton” in 1875 to avoid confusion with another town in the area.
The town was an important stop on the Pennsylvania Railroad, which ran through the borough from 1871 to 1971.
