Penn Borough is a small borough located in Berks County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the southeastern corner of the county, just north of the city of Reading. The borough is bordered by Lower Alsace Township to the north, Exeter Township to the east, and the city of Reading to the south and west. The population of Penn Borough was 2,845 at the 2010 census.

History

The area that is now Penn Borough was first settled in the late 1700s by German immigrants. The first settlers were mostly farmers, and the area was known as “Penn’s Valley”. The name was derived from the Penn family, who owned much of the land in the area. In 1845, the area was officially incorporated as the Borough of Penn.

Geography

Penn Borough is located at 40°20'45" North, 75°56'45" West (40.3458, -75.9457). It has a total area of 0.9 square miles, all of which is land. The borough is situated in the southeastern corner of Berks County, just north of the city of Reading. It is bordered by Lower Alsace Township to the north, Exeter Township to the east, and the city of Reading to the south and west.

The economy of Penn Borough is largely based on small businesses and services. The borough is home to a variety of small businesses, including restaurants, retail stores, and professional services.
