Monroe borough Summary

Monroe Borough is a small borough located in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. It is situated along the Ohio River, approximately 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The borough has a population of approximately 1,400 people and covers an area of 0.6 square miles.

History

Monroe Borough was founded in 1832 by a group of settlers from New Jersey. The borough was named after James Monroe, the fifth President of the United States. The first settlers were mostly farmers and the area was largely agricultural until the late 19th century. In 1876, the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad was built through the borough, which led to the development of industry and commerce. The borough was incorporated in 1891.

Geography

Monroe Borough is located in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. It is situated along the Ohio River, approximately 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The borough has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land. The borough is bordered by the boroughs of Rochester and New Brighton to the north, and by the townships of Brighton and Daugherty to the south.

Economy

Monroe Borough’s economy is largely based on manufacturing and services. The borough is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants. The borough also has a few industrial parks, which are home to several manufacturing companies. The borough is also home to a few small retail stores.

As of the 2010 census, Monroe Borough had a population of 1,400 people. The racial makeup of the borough was 97.4% White, 0.9% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.3% Asian, and 0.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.9% of the population.
