Modena Borough is a small borough located in Chester County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the southeastern corner of the county, approximately 20 miles west of Philadelphia. The borough is bordered by West Vincent Township to the north, East Nantmeal Township to the east, East Coventry Township to the south, and West Brandywine Township to the west. As of the 2010 census, the population of Modena Borough was 1,845.
Geography
Modena Borough is located at 39°59'N 75°37'W. It has a total area of 0.7 square miles, all of which is land. The borough is situated in the rolling hills of southeastern Chester County, and is part of the Brandywine Valley. The borough is drained by the West Branch of the Brandywine Creek, which flows through the center of the borough.
History
The area that is now Modena Borough was originally inhabited by the Lenape Native Americans. The first European settlers arrived in the area in the late 17th century, and the area was part of the Welsh Tract, a large tract of land granted to Welsh Quakers by William Penn in 1681. The area was known as “Modena” by the early 19th century, and the borough was officially incorporated in 1851.

The economy of Modena Borough is largely based on agriculture and light industry. The borough is home to several small businesses, including a lumber yard, a hardware store, and a few restaurants. The borough is also home to a number of small farms, which produce a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans, and hay.
