History

Mcsherrystown Borough was founded in 1845 by John McSherry, a local landowner. The borough was named after him, and was incorporated in 1867. The borough was originally a farming community, and the main industry was the production of flour. The flour mill was located on the banks of the Conewago Creek, and was the main source of employment for the town.
