McKean borough Summary

McKean Borough is a small borough located in the northwestern corner of Pennsylvania in the United States. It is part of the Erie Metropolitan Statistical Area and is located in the county of Erie. The population of McKean Borough was 2,845 at the 2010 census.

History

McKean Borough was founded in 1851 and was named after the McKean family, who were early settlers in the area. The McKean family had a large farm in the area and the town was named after them. The town was originally known as McKeanville, but the name was changed to McKean Borough in 1875.
The town was originally a farming community, but in the late 19th century, it began to develop into a small industrial center. The first industry in the town was a sawmill, which was built in 1876. This was followed by a brickyard, a tannery, and a furniture factory. The town also had a number of small businesses, such as a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a hotel.

Geography

McKean Borough is located in the northwestern corner of Pennsylvania in the United States. It is part of the Erie Metropolitan Statistical Area and is located in the county of Erie. The borough is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Erie and is bordered by the towns of Fairview, Girard, and Waterford. The borough is located approximately 25 miles north of the city of Erie.
