Martins Creek is a small borough located in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the Lehigh Valley region of the state, approximately 10 miles east of the city of Allentown. History

The area that is now Martins Creek was first settled in the late 1700s by German immigrants. The town was originally known as “Martin’s Creek” after the creek that runs through the area. The creek was named after the Martin family, who were among the first settlers in the area.
In 1845, the town was officially incorporated as a borough. The town was named after the creek, and the name was changed to “Martins Creek”.

Geography

Martins Creek is located at 40°45'17" North, 75°14'45" West (40.754722, -75.245833). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of it land.
The borough is located in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania. It is situated in the Delaware River watershed, and is bordered by the townships of Lower Mount Bethel, Upper Mount Bethel, and Washington.

Economy

The economy of Martins Creek is largely based on agriculture and light industry. The borough is home to several small businesses, including a lumber yard, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.
The borough is also home to a number of small farms, which produce a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans, and hay.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,093 people, 441 households, and 294 families residing in the borough. The population density was 1,817.5 people per square mile. There were 471 housing units at an average density of 781.7 per square mile.
The racial makeup of the borough was 97.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.7% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.04.
In the borough, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
The median income for a household in the borough was $41,250, and the median income for a family was $48,750. Males had a median income of $35,000 versus $25,000 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $19,945. About 4.2% of families and 6.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.3% of those under age 18 and 4.2% of those age 65 or over.
