History
Lorain Borough was first settled in 1730 by a group of German immigrants. The town was originally known as “Lorraine”, after the French province of Lorraine. The town was officially incorporated in 1851, and was named after the French province. The town was originally a farming community, and the main industry was the production of woolen goods.
