History

Lansdowne Borough was founded in 1872 by a group of Philadelphia businessmen who wanted to create a suburban community. The borough was named after the Earl of Lansdowne, who was a prominent British statesman at the time. The borough was incorporated in 1891 and has remained largely unchanged since then.
