Freeburg Borough is a small borough located in Snyder County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the Susquehanna Valley, approximately 10 miles south of Selinsgrove and 15 miles north of Harrisburg. The population of Freeburg Borough was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Freeburg Borough is located at 40°45'45" North, 76°51'45" West (40.7625, -76.8625). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km2), all of it land.

History

Freeburg Borough was founded in 1845 by a group of German immigrants. The town was named after the Freeburg family, who were among the first settlers. The town was incorporated in 1851.
In the late 19th century, Freeburg was a thriving industrial center, with several factories and mills. The town was also home to a number of churches, including the Freeburg United Methodist Church, which was founded in 1851.

Economy
