History

Everson Borough was founded in 1872 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Sewickley. The settlers named the borough after their leader, John Everson. The first post office in the borough was established in 1873.
In the late 19th century, Everson Borough was a thriving coal mining town. The coal industry provided employment for many of the borough's residents. The coal mines were eventually closed in the early 20th century, and the borough's economy shifted to agriculture and light industry.
