Elizabethtown Borough is a borough located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the southeastern corner of the county, approximately 10 miles east of the city of Lancaster. History

The area that is now Elizabethtown Borough was first settled in 1730 by a group of German immigrants. The town was originally known as “Friedenshütten”, or “Peace Hut”, and was founded by a group of Mennonites. The town was renamed Elizabethtown in 1755, after the wife of the local landowner, John Harris.
In 1762, Elizabethtown was officially incorporated as a borough. The town quickly grew in size and importance, and by the mid-1800s it was a thriving commercial center. The town was home to a variety of businesses, including a tannery, a brewery, a distillery, and several mills.
In the late 1800s, Elizabethtown was connected to the rest of the county by the Columbia and Reading Railroad. This allowed the town to become a major transportation hub, and it soon became a popular destination for tourists.
In the early 1900s, Elizabethtown was home to a variety of industries, including a silk mill, a paper mill, and a brickyard. The town also had a thriving agricultural industry, and was home to several large farms.
