History
Eau Claire Borough was founded in 1876. The name of the borough is derived from the French phrase for "clear water," referring to the clear water of the nearby Beaver River. The borough was originally part of Big Beaver Township, but was incorporated as a separate borough in 1876.

The racial makeup of the borough was 98.97% White, 0.21% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.10% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races.
