Dunnstown Summary

Dunnstown is a small borough located in Centre County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is situated in the Nittany Valley, a region of the Appalachian Mountains. The population was 545 at the 2010 census.

History

Dunnstown was founded in 1845 by John Dunn, a local landowner. The town was originally known as Dunnstown, but the name was changed to Dunnstown in 1851. The town was incorporated in 1854.
Dunnstown was a small farming community until the late 19th century, when the Pennsylvania Railroad built a line through the town. This brought an influx of new residents and businesses, and the town grew rapidly. By the early 20th century, Dunnstown had become a bustling commercial center, with several stores, a hotel, a bank, and a post office.

Geography

Dunnstown is located at 40°48'17" North, 77°45'45" West (40.804722, -77.7625). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.8 km2), all of it land.
