Darlington Borough is a small borough located in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the southwestern corner of the county, and is bordered by the boroughs of Chippewa and Patterson Heights, as well as the townships of Darlington and South Beaver. The population of Darlington Borough was 1,845 at the 2010 census.
History
The area that is now Darlington Borough was first settled in the late 1700s by a group of settlers from Scotland. The settlement was originally known as “Darlington”, and was named after the town of Darlington in England. The area was incorporated as a borough in 1868.
In the late 1800s, Darlington Borough was a thriving industrial center, with several coal mines, brickyards, and other industries. The borough was also home to several churches, schools, and other businesses.
Geography
Darlington Borough is located at 40°37'45" North, 80°17'45" West (40.629, -80.296). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all of it land.

The economy of Darlington Borough is largely based on the service industry. The borough is home to several restaurants, retail stores, and other businesses. There are also several small manufacturing companies located in the borough.
Demographics
As of the 2010 census, there were 1,845 people, 745 households, and 486 families residing in the borough. The population density was 3,072.2 people per square mile (1,186.3/km2). There were 809 housing units at an average density of 1,346.2 per square mile (520.2/km2). The racial makeup of the borough was 97.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.9% of the population.
There were 745 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% were married couples living together, 14.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.2% were non-families. 32.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the borough, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 18.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.2 males.
