Conway borough Summary
Conway Borough is a small borough located in Beaver County, Pennsylvania. It is situated along the Ohio River, approximately 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The population of Conway Borough was 1,845 at the 2010 census.
History
Conway Borough was founded in 1816 by John Conway, a Revolutionary War veteran. The town was originally known as Conwaysburg, but the name was changed to Conway Borough in 1854. The town was incorporated in 1868.
In the late 19th century, Conway Borough was a thriving industrial center. It was home to several factories, including a glassworks, a brickyard, and a tannery. The town also had a number of stores and businesses, including a hotel, a bank, and a post office.
Geography
Conway Borough is located at 40°37'45" North, 80°17'45" West (40.629, -80.296). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.7 square miles, all of it land.
Economy
Conway Borough is a small, rural community with a limited economy. The town is home to a few small businesses, including a gas station, a convenience store, and a few restaurants. The town also has a few small manufacturing companies.

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,845 people, 745 households, and 486 families residing in the borough. The population density was 2,621.4 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the borough was 97.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population.
There were 745 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.2% were married couples living together, 14.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the borough, the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
The median income for a household in the borough was $35,000, and the median income for a family was $41,250. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $22,500 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $17,845.
