History
Cherry Tree Borough was founded in 1876. The borough was named for the cherry trees that grew in the area. The first settlers in the area were of German descent. The first post office was established in 1877.

The economy of Cherry Tree Borough is largely based on agriculture. The borough is home to several farms, including the Cherry Tree Farm, which produces a variety of fruits and vegetables. The borough also has a few small businesses, including a gas station, a grocery store, and a hardware store.
