Centerport borough Summary

Introduction

Centerport Borough is a small borough located in Berks County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the southeastern corner of the county, and is bordered by the Schuylkill River to the east and the Tulpehocken Creek to the west. The borough is home to a population of just over 1,000 people, and is known for its rural charm and small-town atmosphere.

History

Centerport Borough was founded in 1845, when a group of settlers from the nearby town of Reading purchased land in the area. The settlers named the town after the nearby center of the county, and the name has remained ever since. The town was officially incorporated in 1851, and the first mayor was elected in 1852.
The town grew slowly over the years, and by the turn of the 20th century, it had a population of just over 500 people. The town was largely agricultural, and the main industry was dairy farming. The town also had a few small businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith, and a sawmill.
