Brownstown Borough is located at 40°7'17" North, 76°7'17" West (40.1214, -76.1214). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all of it land.
The borough is located in the rolling hills of southeastern Lancaster County. The borough is bisected by the Conestoga River, which flows from the northwest to the southeast. The borough is also home to several small creeks, including Mill Creek, which flows through the center of the borough.
