History

Boswell Borough was founded in 1872 by John Boswell, a local landowner. The borough was incorporated in 1873 and was named after John Boswell. The borough was originally a farming community, but it has since become a bedroom community for nearby Johnstown.

Geography

Boswell Borough is located at 40°14'N 78°59'W (40.23, -78.98). It is situated in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains and is part of the Johnstown Metropolitan Statistical Area. The borough has a total area of 0.7 square miles, all of which is land.

Economy

The economy of Boswell Borough is largely based on the service industry. The borough is home to several small businesses, including restaurants, retail stores, and professional services. The borough also has a few manufacturing companies, including a metal fabrication plant and a plastics factory.
