Burgersburg Borough is a small borough located in York County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the southeastern corner of the county, just north of the Mason-Dixon Line. The borough is bordered by the townships of Warrington, Chanceford, and Lower Chanceford. The population of Burgersburg Borough was 1,845 at the 2010 census.

History

Burgersburg Borough was founded in 1790 by a group of German settlers who had migrated from the Palatinate region of Germany. The settlers named the town after their leader, John Burger, who had purchased the land from the local Native Americans. The town was incorporated in 1814 and was the first borough in York County.
The town grew slowly but steadily over the years, and by the mid-19th century, it had become a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several mills, including a grist mill, a saw mill, and a paper mill. The town also had a blacksmith shop, a tannery, and a general store.
In the late 19th century, the town began to experience a period of industrialization. The paper mill was replaced by a brick factory, and the grist mill was replaced by a flour mill. The town also had a cigar factory, a furniture factory, and a canning factory.
