Geography

Beavertown Borough is located at 40°45'45" North, 76°51'45" West (40.7625, -76.8625). It has a total area of 0.6 square miles, all of which is land. The borough is situated in the Susquehanna Valley, approximately 10 miles south of Selinsgrove and 15 miles north of Harrisburg.

History

Beavertown Borough was founded in 1845 by a group of settlers from Beaver County, Pennsylvania. The borough was named after the county from which the settlers had come. The first post office in the borough was established in 1846.
In the late 19th century, Beavertown Borough was a thriving agricultural community. The borough was home to several mills, including a grist mill, a saw mill, and a woolen mill. The borough also had a tannery, a blacksmith shop, and a general store.
In the early 20th century, Beavertown Borough began to experience a decline in population as many of its residents moved away in search of better economic opportunities. The borough's population decreased from 1,945 in 1900 to 1,845 in 2010.
