Ashville borough Summary

Asheville Borough is a small borough located in the state of Pennsylvania. It is situated in the southwestern corner of the state, in the Allegheny Mountains. The borough is located in the county of Somerset, and is part of the Johnstown Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population of Asheville Borough was 1,845 as of the 2010 census.

History

Asheville Borough was founded in 1845 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Somerset. The settlers were looking for a place to settle and start a new life. The area was originally known as "Asheville Station" due to the presence of a railroad station in the area. The name was later changed to Asheville Borough in 1875.
The borough was originally a farming community, but in the late 19th century, the area began to develop into a small industrial center. The first industry to be established in the area was a sawmill, which was built in 1876. This was followed by a grist mill, a tannery, and a brickyard. The borough also had a number of small businesses, such as a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a post office.
The borough continued to grow and develop throughout the 20th century.
