Addison Borough is a small borough located in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It is situated in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains and is part of the Johnstown Metropolitan Statistical Area. The borough has a population of 1,845 as of the 2010 census.

History

Addison Borough was founded in 1845 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Berlin. The settlers named the borough after Addison Township, which was named after Joseph Addison, an English essayist and poet. The borough was incorporated in 1872.
The borough was originally a farming community, but in the late 19th century, it became a center for coal mining. The coal industry was the main source of employment for the borough until the 1950s, when the industry began to decline.

Geography

Addison Borough is located in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It is situated at an elevation of 1,845 feet (561 m) above sea level. The borough has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all of which is land.
The borough is bordered by Addison Township to the north, Stonycreek Township to the east, Shade Township to the south, and Jenner Township to the west. The borough is located approximately 10 miles (16 km) south of Johnstown and 50 miles (80 km) east of Pittsburgh.

Economy

The economy of Addison Borough is largely based on agriculture and tourism. The borough is home to several small farms, which produce a variety of crops, including corn, soybeans, and hay. The borough also has several small businesses, including restaurants, retail stores, and service providers.
The borough is also a popular tourist destination. It is home to several attractions, including the Addison Historical Society Museum, the Addison Trailhead, and the Addison Covered Bridge. The borough also hosts several annual events, including the Addison Fall Festival and the Addison Christmas Parade.

As of the 2010 census, the population of Addison Borough was 1,845. The racial makeup of the borough was 97.3% White, 0.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population.
