Douglas, Massachusetts is a small town located in the south-central part of the state, in Worcester County. It is bordered by the towns of Uxbridge, Sutton, Northbridge, and Blackstone. History

The area that is now Douglas was originally inhabited by the Nipmuc tribe, who called the area Quinsigamond. The first European settlers arrived in the area in 1713, and the town was officially incorporated in 1764. The town was named after the Douglas family, who were among the first settlers.
In the late 18th century, Douglas was a thriving agricultural community, with many farms and mills. The town was also home to several small industries, including a tannery, a grist mill, and a sawmill.
In the 19th century, Douglas became a popular summer resort destination, with many wealthy Bostonians building summer homes in the area. The town also became a popular destination for artists, writers, and musicians.

Geography
