History

Lennon was first settled in 1836 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after John Lennon, a local landowner. The village was incorporated in 1887.
In the late 19th century, Lennon was a thriving agricultural community. The village was home to several grain elevators, a sawmill, a grist mill, and a creamery. The village also had a railroad station, which was used to transport goods to and from the village.
In the early 20th century, the village began to decline. The railroad station closed in the 1920s, and the grain elevators and other businesses closed in the 1930s. The village was also hit hard by the Great Depression.
