Coleman Summary

Coleman is a small city located in Midland County, Michigan. It is situated on the banks of the Tobacco River, and is home to a population of approximately 1,500 people. Coleman is known for its rich history, diverse geography, and vibrant economy.

History

Coleman was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The city was named after William Coleman, a prominent local businessman. The city was incorporated in 1887, and the first mayor was elected in 1888.
In the early 1900s, Coleman was a thriving industrial center. The city was home to several factories, including a paper mill, a sawmill, and a flour mill. The city also had a thriving lumber industry, and was home to several lumber yards.
In the 1950s, Coleman began to experience a decline in its industrial base. Many of the factories closed, and the city’s population began to decline. In the 1970s, Coleman began to experience a resurgence in its economy. The city was home to several new businesses, including a furniture store, a grocery store, and a hardware store.
