Bath Summary

Bath, Michigan is a small village located in Clinton County, Michigan. It is situated on the banks of the Grand River, approximately 10 miles east of Lansing, the state capital. The village has a population of approximately 1,500 people and covers an area of 1.2 square miles.

History

The area that is now Bath was first settled in 1836 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was originally known as “Bathtown” and was named after the nearby Bath Township. The village was incorporated in 1867 and was officially named “Bath”.
The village grew slowly over the years, but experienced a period of rapid growth in the late 19th century. This was due to the construction of the Grand Trunk Railroad, which ran through the village. The railroad brought new businesses and industries to the area, and the population of the village grew to over 1,000 by the early 20th century.
