Morningside Summary

Morningside is a small town located in Prince George’s County, Maryland, United States. It is situated on the banks of the Potomac River, just south of Washington, D.C. The town has a population of approximately 4,000 people and is part of the Washington Metropolitan Area.

History

Morningside was founded in 1887 by a group of farmers who wanted to create a small, rural community. The town was named after the nearby Morningside Plantation, which was owned by the prominent Washington family. The town was incorporated in 1891 and quickly grew in size and population. By the early 1900s, Morningside had become a popular destination for Washingtonians looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
The town experienced a period of growth and prosperity in the 1920s and 1930s, when many of the town’s homes and businesses were built. During this time, Morningside was home to a number of prominent African-American families, including the Washington family.

Morningside is located in Prince George’s County, Maryland, just south of Washington, D.C.
