Arden on the Severn is a small unincorporated community located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. It is situated on the Severn River, just south of Annapolis. The community is known for its picturesque views of the river and its close proximity to the Chesapeake Bay.

History

Arden on the Severn was first settled in the early 1700s by English settlers. The area was originally known as “Arden’s Neck” and was part of a larger tract of land owned by the Arden family. The Arden family owned the land until the early 1800s when it was sold to the Maryland State Legislature. The legislature then divided the land into smaller parcels and sold them to various individuals.
In the late 1800s, the area began to develop as a summer resort community. The area was known for its beautiful views of the Severn River and its close proximity to the Chesapeake Bay. The area was also known for its many summer homes and cottages.
