Weber City Summary
Weber City is a town located in Scott County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kingsport–Bristol (TN)–Bristol (VA) Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is a component of the Johnson City–Kingsport–Bristol, TN-VA Combined Statistical Area – commonly known as the "Tri-Cities" region.
History
Weber City was founded in 1891 by the Weber brothers, who were German immigrants. The brothers purchased a large tract of land and began to develop the area. The town was named after the Weber family.
The town was incorporated in 1892 and the first mayor was elected in 1893. The town grew rapidly and by the early 1900s, it had become a thriving community.
The town was home to several businesses, including a sawmill, a grist mill, a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a hotel. The town also had a post office, a bank, and a school.
In the early 1900s, the town was a major stop on the Norfolk and Western Railway. The railroad brought many new people to the area and helped to spur economic growth.

The racial makeup of the town was 97.45% White, 0.76% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.43% from other races, and 0.77% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.76% of the population.
There were 745 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.7% were married couples living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 28.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.98.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 23.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $27,917, and the median income for a family was $33,750. Males had a median income of $27,500 versus $20,000 for females. The per capita income for the town was $14,945.
