Rich Creek Summary

Rich Creek is a town located in Giles County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Blacksburg–Christiansburg–Radford Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Rich Creek was founded in 1832 by William and Mary Ann Rich. The town was named after the Rich family, who were among the first settlers in the area. The town was originally known as Rich's Creek, but the name was eventually shortened to Rich Creek.
The town was incorporated in 1887 and has since grown to become a thriving community. Rich Creek is home to several businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a bank, and a post office.

Geography

Rich Creek is located in the Appalachian Mountains of southwestern Virginia. It is situated in the New River Valley, along the banks of the New River. The town is located at the intersection of US Route 460 and State Route 100.
The town has a total area of 1.3 square miles, all of which is land. The elevation of Rich Creek is 1,845 feet above sea level.
