Edinburg is a town located in Shenandoah County, Virginia, United States. The population was 1,415 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Winchester, VA-WV Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Edinburg was founded in 1790 by John Edinburg, a German immigrant. The town was originally known as Edinburg Crossroads, and was the site of a stagecoach stop. The town was incorporated in 1892.

The racial makeup of the town was 97.45% White, 0.14% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 0.71% from other races, and 1.29% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.41% of the population.
There were 590 households, out of which 28.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.9% were married couples living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.6% were non-families. 29.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.94.
