Rose Hill is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Fairfax County, Virginia. It is situated in the southeastern portion of the county, approximately 20 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. The population of Rose Hill was 8,845 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Rose Hill is located at 38°45'17" North, 77°17'45" West (38.754722, -77.295833). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.2 square miles, all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 8,845 people, 3,093 households, and 2,521 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,097.3 people per square mile (809.7/km^2). There were 3,179 housing units at an average density of 754.3/sqmi (291.2/km^2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 68.90% White, 15.90% African American, 0.20% Native American, 11.90% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 1.30% from other races, and 1.70% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.90% of the population.
There were 3,093 households, out of which 41.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.2% were married couples living together, 8.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.3% were non-families. 15.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 3.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.19.
