History
Crosspointe was originally part of the Occoquan District of Prince William County. The area was first settled in the late 1700s by farmers and planters. The area was known as “Crossroads” due to its location at the intersection of two major roads. In the early 1900s, the area was developed as a residential community. The community was officially named “Crosspointe” in the 1950s.
Geography
Crosspointe is located at 38°41'25"N 77°20'45"W (38.690278, -77.345833). It is situated in the eastern part of Prince William County, approximately 25 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. The CDP has a total area of 4.2 square miles, all of which is land.
Economy
Crosspointe is primarily a residential community, with most of its residents commuting to nearby cities for work. The area is home to several small businesses, including restaurants, retail stores, and professional services. The largest employer in the area is the Prince William County Public Schools system.
Demographics
As of the 2010 census, there were 8,845 people, 3,093 households, and 2,521 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,097.2 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the CDP was 68.2% White, 17.2% African American, 0.3% Native American, 8.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 2.3% from other races, and 3.7% from two or more races.
