History

New Carlisle was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The town was originally known as Carlisle, but the name was changed to New Carlisle in 1839 to avoid confusion with the existing town of Carlisle, Indiana.

Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.2% of the population.
