Milford Summary

Milford is a small town located in Kosciusko County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Warsaw, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Milford was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was named after Milford Township in Ohio, where many of the settlers had come from. The first post office was established in 1838.

In 1851 the first school was built in Milford The town was incorporated in 1867

Geography

Milford is located at 41°17'25" North, 85°48'45" West (41.290278, -85.8125). According to the 2010 census, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all land.

Economy

The economy of Milford is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to several farms, as well as a few small businesses.

Demographics

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,845 people, 717 households, and 486 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,539.2 people per square mile (595.2/km2). There were 771 housing units at an average density of 642.5 per square mile (248.3/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 97.2% White, 0.3% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races.
