Seelyville is a small town located in Vigo County, Indiana, United States. It is part of the Terre Haute Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

History

Seelyville was founded in 1837 by William Seely, a Quaker from North Carolina. He purchased the land from the government and began to develop the area. The town was originally called Seelyville Station, but the name was changed to Seelyville in 1851.
The town was incorporated in 1871 and the first mayor was William Seely. The town grew slowly but steadily over the years, and by the early 20th century, it had become a thriving community.

The racial makeup of the town was 97.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 12.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.7% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.05.
