Hazleton Summary

Hazleton is a small town located in the state of Indiana, in the United States. It is situated in the southwestern part of the state, in the county of Vigo. The town has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is located near the Wabash River.

History

Hazleton was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was named after the Hazleton family, who were among the first settlers. The town was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were corn, wheat, and oats. The town also had a sawmill, a gristmill, and a blacksmith shop.
In the late 1800s, the town began to grow and develop. The railroad was built through the town, and the first train arrived in 1883. This allowed for the transportation of goods and people to and from the town. The town also had a post office, a bank, and a hotel.
In the early 1900s, the town began to decline. The railroad was abandoned, and the town's population began to decrease. In the 1950s, the town was revitalized when the Wabash River was dammed, creating a lake. This lake provided recreational opportunities for the town, and the population began to increase.
