History

Roosevelt was founded in 1901, and was named after President Theodore Roosevelt. The town was originally a farming community, and the first settlers were mostly of German and Irish descent. The town grew slowly, and by the 1920s, it had a population of around 500 people.
In the 1930s, the town was hit hard by the Great Depression, and many of the residents left in search of work. However, the town was able to survive, and by the 1950s, it had a population of around 800 people.
