Pocasset is a small town located in Grady County, Oklahoma. It is situated on the banks of the Washita River, approximately 10 miles south of Chickasha. The town was founded in 1891 and was named after the nearby Pocasset Creek. The population of Pocasset was 1,093 at the 2000 census.

Pocasset is located at 35°17'25" North, 97°59'45" West (35.290278, -97.995833). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.
Economy
The economy of Pocasset is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to several farms and ranches, as well as a few small businesses. The town also has a few restaurants and convenience stores.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,093 people, 431 households, and 305 families residing in the town. The population density was 902.2 people per square mile (348.7/km2). There were 476 housing units at an average density of 393.2 per square mile (151.7/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 81.45% White, 0.37% African American, 11.90% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 5.73% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.37% of the population.
There were 431 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.2% were non-families. 27.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.2 males.
