Mill Creek Summary

Mill Creek is a small town located in Johnston County, Oklahoma. It is situated in the foothills of the Arbuckle Mountains, about 20 miles south of the state capital of Oklahoma City. The town was founded in 1891 and has a population of approximately 500 people.

History

Mill Creek was founded in 1891 by a group of settlers from Arkansas. The town was named after the nearby Mill Creek, which was used to power a grist mill. The town was originally a farming community, but it soon became a center for the oil and gas industry. In the early 1900s, the town was home to several oil and gas companies, including the Mill Creek Oil and Gas Company.
The town experienced a period of growth in the 1920s and 1930s, when the oil and gas industry was booming. During this time, the town was home to several businesses, including a bank, a hotel, a movie theater, and a variety of stores.
In the 1940s, the town began to decline as the oil and gas industry moved away. The town was also affected by the Great Depression, which caused many of the businesses to close. In the 1950s, the town experienced a resurgence as the oil and gas industry returned.
