Geography

Cleora is a small town located in Delaware County, Oklahoma. It is situated in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, approximately 10 miles south of the Arkansas border. The town is located on the banks of the Neosho River, which flows through the area. The town is surrounded by rolling hills and lush forests, making it a popular destination for outdoor recreation.
The town of Cleora is located at an elevation of 890 feet above sea level. The town is located in the Central Standard Time Zone and observes Daylight Savings Time. The town is located in the humid subtropical climate zone, with hot summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is around 64 degrees Fahrenheit.

History

The town of Cleora was founded in 1891 by a group of settlers from Arkansas. The town was named after the daughter of one of the settlers, Cleora Smith. The town was originally a farming community, with the main crops being cotton, corn, and wheat.
In the early 1900s, the town began to grow and develop. The first school was built in 1906, and the first post office was established in 1907. The town also had a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a grist mill.
