Burlington Summary
Burlington, Oklahoma is a small town located in the northeastern corner of Oklahoma, in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. It is situated in the county of Osage, and is part of the Tulsa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town has a population of just over 1,000 people, and is known for its rural charm and friendly atmosphere.
History
Burlington was founded in 1891 by a group of settlers from Arkansas. The town was named after Burlington, Arkansas, the hometown of the settlers. The town was originally a farming community, and the settlers grew cotton, corn, and other crops. The town was also home to a number of small businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a post office.
In the early 1900s, the town began to grow and develop. The first school was built in 1906, and the first bank opened in 1908. The town also had a newspaper, the Burlington News, which was published from 1909 to 1915.
