Briggs Summary

Briggs is a small town located in Oklahoma, United States. It is situated in the southeastern part of the state, in the county of Okmulgee. The town has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is located about 30 miles south of Tulsa.

History

Briggs was founded in 1891 by a group of settlers from Arkansas. The town was named after a local rancher, William Briggs, who owned a large amount of land in the area. The town was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were cotton, corn, and wheat.
In the early 1900s, Briggs began to experience a period of growth. The town was connected to the railroad, and the population began to increase. The town also became a center for oil production, and the economy began to diversify.
In the 1920s, Briggs experienced a period of decline. The Great Depression caused many of the businesses in the town to close, and the population began to decrease. However, the town was able to recover in the 1940s, and the population began to increase again.
