History

Mccallsburg was founded in 1881 by William McCall, a local farmer. The town was named after him and was incorporated in 1883. The town was originally a farming community, but it has since become a bedroom community for Ames, Iowa.

Mccallsburg is located at 42°2′17″N 93°25′17″W (42.038, -93.421). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.0 km2), all of it land.

Economy

Mccallsburg is a small town with a limited economy. The town is primarily a bedroom community for Ames, Iowa, and the surrounding area. The town does not have any major employers, but there are several small businesses in the area.
