Inwood Summary

Inwood is a city located in Lyon County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Sioux City, IA–NE–SD Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Inwood was founded in 1881 by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. The town was named after the Inwood family, who were early settlers in the area. The first post office was established in 1882.
Inwood was incorporated as a city in 1891. The city was home to a number of businesses, including a creamery, a lumberyard, a bank, a hotel, and a newspaper.
