Inwood is a city located in Lyon County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,093 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Sioux City, IA–NE–SD Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
Inwood was founded in 1881 by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad. The town was named after the Inwood family, who were early settlers in the area. The first post office was established in 1882.
Inwood was incorporated as a city in 1891. The city was home to a number of businesses, including a creamery, a lumberyard, a bank, a hotel, and a newspaper.

Inwood is a small rural community with a population of 1,093. The economy is largely based on agriculture, with corn, soybeans, and hogs being the main crops. The city also has a few small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a restaurant.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,093 people, 441 households, and 294 families residing in the city. The population density was 990.9 people per square mile (382.3/km2). There were 471 housing units at an average density of 427.3 per square mile (164.7/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.2% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.2% were married couples living together, 8.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.2% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 18.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $37,500, and the median income for a family was $45,000. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $21,250 for females.
