Delmar Summary

Delmar, Iowa is a small town located in Clinton County, Iowa. It is situated on the banks of the Wapsipinicon River, about 10 miles south of the city of Clinton. The population of Delmar was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

History

Delmar was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from New York. The town was named after the Delmar family, who were among the first settlers. The town was originally a farming community, but in the late 19th century, it became a center for the lumber industry. The lumber industry was the main source of employment for the town until the early 20th century, when the industry began to decline.
In the early 20th century, Delmar began to diversify its economy. The town became a center for the production of agricultural equipment, and several factories were built in the area. The town also became a center for the production of furniture and other wood products.

Geography

Delmar is located in the northwest corner of Clinton County, Iowa. It is situated on the banks of the Wapsipinicon River, about 10 miles south of the city of Clinton. The town is located in a rural area, and is surrounded by farmland. The terrain is mostly flat, with some rolling hills.
