Boyden Summary
Boyden is a city located in Sioux County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,541 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Sioux City, IA–NE–SD Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
Boyden was founded in 1881 by a group of Dutch settlers. The city was named after the Reverend John Boyden, a minister from the Netherlands who had come to the area to preach. The city was incorporated in 1883.

The racial makeup of the city was 97.3% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 27.2% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
